Data: Last week, Ethereum Layer 2 network consumed over 32 billion gas, setting a record for the highest weekly consumption in history

ChainCatcher news, according to Dune Analytics data, the Ethereum Layer 2 networks consumed over 32 billion gas to verify and activate bridging transactions in the week from January 9 to January 15, a year-on-year increase of 22.8%, setting a record for the highest weekly gas consumption to date.

Among them, on-chain activity on Arbitrum and Optimism has significantly increased. As of January 15, the total transaction volume on the two Layer 2 chains reached 1.2 million, while the transaction volume on the Ethereum chain was about 1 million. In terms of gas consumption share, Optimism contributed approximately 50% of the gas consumption, followed by Arbitrum, which accounted for about 30%. (source link)
