The Mississippi State Senate in the United States has passed a bill to legalize cryptocurrency mining, pending approval from the House of Representatives
ChainCatcher News, Mississippi state senators have passed a bill that legalizes cryptocurrency mining and protects miners from biased energy pricing. If approved by House representatives and signed by Governor Tate Reeves, the bill will take effect on July 1.
The bill states that the state's public service commission is not allowed to set discriminatory rates for crypto mining companies, allowing them to adopt the same electricity prices as other industrial uses. Individuals or entities engaged in digital asset mining will be exempt from registering with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). (Source link)
