ChainCatcher news, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has requested that the cryptocurrency exchange CEX.IO stop claiming that the dollars in its wallets are insured by the FDIC. The FDIC stated that a section of the CEX.IO website incorrectly indicated that "the dollars held in your CEX.IO fiat wallet are FDIC insured, up to $250,000 per account," while in fact, "this statement has no qualifications, clarifications, or limitations, nor is there any insured deposit institution or agency related to this statement."
