Glassnode: It is expected that less than 1% of staked ETH will be unlocked in the first week after the Ethereum Shanghai upgrade
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Glassnode predicts that within the first week of the Ethereum mainnet executing the Shanghai hard fork, an estimated 170,000 ETH out of the 18.1 million ETH staked on the Beacon Chain will be unlocked, accounting for less than 1%. This figure includes 100,000 ETH (approximately $190 million) in staking rewards and 70,000 staked ETH (approximately $133 million).
Glassnode explains that currently, only 253 stakers are waiting to exit their stakes, most of whom are independent stakers or early stakers on the Beacon Chain. Additionally, some mechanisms are in place to prevent a large supply of ETH from flooding the market all at once. The 253 exiting stakers collectively own 1,229 validators, while another 214 penalized validators will be forced to exit after the Shanghai upgrade is activated. Furthermore, only 22% of these stakers are currently in profit.
Moreover, Glassnode believes that this hard fork upgrade will not have a "huge" impact on Ethereum's price movement: "Even in the extreme case where the maximum amount of rewards and staked ETH is withdrawn and sold, the selling volume remains within the average weekly inflow range. Therefore, it can be concluded that even in the most extreme scenarios, this upgrade will only have an acceptable impact on the price of ETH." (source link)
