The U.S. SEC will respond to Coinbase's initial legal defense on July 13
ChainCatcher news, according to Thursday's court order, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will respond to Coinbase's initial legal defense on July 13.
Due to the "creative" defense strategy adopted by Coinbase, the hearing date is earlier than expected. According to regulations, the SEC must respond to Coinbase's defense by July 3, but since July 4 is a weekend holiday, the SEC requested an extension of three business days, which the court granted. Additionally, the court changed the pre-trial conference to a motion hearing and moved it up from August 24 to July 13 at 14:00 UTC. A motion hearing is a request made by the prosecutor or defense attorney for the court to decide on a particular issue before the trial begins.
In response to the SEC's complaint, Coinbase argues that many of the tokens highlighted in the SEC case do not fall under the commission's jurisdiction. (source link)
