ChainCatcher news, according to Reuters, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan stated today that prosecutors can present evidence of FTX political donations to the jury in the upcoming trial. The evidence that SBF used FTX customer funds for political donations is direct evidence of a wire fraud scheme, as it relates to determining the defendant's motive and alleged fraudulent intent.

Prosecutors stated that SBF misappropriated $100 million of customer deposits from FTX for political donations, hoping to stimulate the passage of cryptocurrency-friendly legislation. Before the collapse of FTX, SBF was one of the largest donors to Democratic candidates ahead of the November 2022 midterm elections.
