TON workshop showcases DeFi and NFT solutions, sparking a new wave of Telegram Web3

The TON Developer Workshop series, held for the first time in Taipei, officially concluded last weekend after several previews of its hardcore curriculum. The event garnered enthusiastic attention from developers across various fields, attracting over a hundred professionals and achieving unprecedented scale.

The final Demo Day event brought together ten top teams from both domestic and international backgrounds, showcasing rich creativity and strong development energy, deeply exploring the potential of the TON blockchain and the vast ecosystem of Telegram.

Ten teams competed on stage, exploring the diverse applications of the TON ecosystem.

Currently, Telegram has nearly 800 million users worldwide, with a focus on privacy and convenient information storage features, making it popular among users and the crypto community. In September, it announced the integration of the self-custody cryptocurrency wallet "TON Space," developed on the TON blockchain, opening the door for users to easily access Web3.

Based on this advantage, the ten participating teams proposed various potential applications, among which three teams stood out:

Champion: TonFura

TonFura aims to create a convenient Web3 infrastructure for TON Dapp developers, reducing and simplifying access to TON blockchain data. This allows various DApps to focus on building their unique features and better serving users.

Runner-up: Bulleton

Aims to create a platform that facilitates discussions on anonymous bulletin boards while ensuring user privacy and security through zero-knowledge frameworks.

Third Place: Eventon

Develops a dynamic protocol that connects on-chain and off-chain events, allowing users to subscribe to various on-chain activities, from DeFi protocols to Oracle price updates, treating each event as a signal to provide seamless integration for users to interact with and respond to real-time events.

The stimulating teams can each receive prizes ranging from 800 to 1500 USDT and connect with the rich resources of the TON Accelerator program, encouraging developers to continue building on TON.

The Demo Day also invited prominent figures such as Ian Wittkop, head of the TON Accelerator program, and Daniel Yang, global BD head. During the opening, Ian shared three ways the Ton Foundation can assist builders:

1. Business Model Development: The foundation can help projects establish sustainable business models and assist in marketing, facilitating smoother development for startups.
2. Ecosystem Integration: The foundation's accelerator can help you integrate various necessary resources within the TON ecosystem.
3. TONcoin.Fund: The Ton Foundation can provide financial assistance to support projects in building Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

Future Development of the TON Blockchain

When discussing the future development of the TON blockchain in conjunction with Telegram, and whether it will become an all-in-one super app, Daniel Yang stated: "Indeed, we hope to move towards this goal by combining the smart contract and payment capabilities brought by Telegram and TON. Telegram users can directly use our wallet to complete all necessary transactions to other platforms, becoming the most convenient and powerful super application." Assistant Professor Sun Shisheng from National Chengchi University also shared that the TON ecosystem is still full of development opportunities compared to other public chains, and the close connection with Telegram users, along with wallet integration, is expected to accelerate user adoption of Web3.

Additionally, he noted that many teams have already begun applying ZK zero-knowledge proof technology, indicating that the TON blockchain has become a quite mature technology and application, and he hopes to see more community research and discussions in the future.

$250 Million TONcoin Fund

Developers who did not participate in this workshop need not worry about missing the opportunity to showcase their projects. The $250 million ecological fund, TONcoin Fund, will focus investments on key projects across various fields, especially decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, with each team potentially receiving investments ranging from $50,000 to $250,000.
Justin Hyun, Director of Incubation and Development at the TON Foundation, stated:

"This is the beginning of many different incubators that will receive support in the future. Funding is part of our local center's launch strategy, and our ecosystem will focus on attracting new incubators and successful repeat founders distributed across major locations worldwide."
