The Starknet community proposes to use the STRK token as a fee token

ChainCatcher message, the Starknet community has released a new proposal on the official governance forum, suggesting that the newly introduced V3 transactions pay fees in STRK (i.e., accounts must have a STRK balance). The old version of transactions will still be supported, continuing to use ETH for fee payments.

The intent of the proposal is outlined as follows: to use the Starknet native token STRK as the fee payment token on Starknet, as one of its primary purposes.
