Polygon's native token POL has been launched on the Ethereum mainnet
ChainCatcher news, Ethereum scaling solution Polygon announced that its native token POL has been launched on the Ethereum mainnet. According to the official introduction, POL is a next-generation token that can power a vast ecosystem based on ZK Layer 2 chains. The protocol allows POL holders to validate multiple chains and perform multiple roles on each chain, turning POL into an efficient token.
In addition, upgrading from MATIC to POL requires sending MATIC to the upgrade smart contract, which automatically returns an equivalent amount of POL.
Previous report, in July this year, the official proposed a technical upgrade to its native MATIC token as part of the Polygon 2.0 roadmap, converting MATIC to Polygon (POL). The POL token will operate across all Polygon protocols, including Proof of Stake (PoS), zkEVM, and Supernets.
