ChainCatcher news, according to The Information, as OpenAI's largest supporter, Microsoft is considering taking a role on its board in the event that former CEO Sam Altman may return to the ChatGPT developer OpenAI. Microsoft may serve as a board member or observer, the latter of which does not have voting rights. This move is part of efforts by OpenAI's major supporters and senior leadership to rehire Altman.

It is reported that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is personally assisting OpenAI's interim CEO Mira Murati in related discussions. Furthermore, if Altman is unable to return to OpenAI, Microsoft will consider investing in Altman's new venture.

Microsoft has invested over $11 billion in OpenAI, primarily in the form of computing resources, making its technology a core part of Microsoft's AI efforts, including the integration of chatbots in the Bing search engine and the addition of new tools in Office 365 software.
