The U.S. CFTC fines Binance's former chief compliance officer $1.5 million, marking the first time personal accountability is pursued against compliance executives
ChainCatcher News, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Caroline Pham stated that in addition to the fines against Binance and Changpeng Zhao, if a federal judge approves the proposed settlement, former Binance Chief Compliance Officer Samuel Lim will also pay a $1.5 million fine, and he is prohibited from serving as an unregistered futures broker or operating any illegal cryptocurrency derivatives platform. Caroline Pham noted that this is the first time the CFTC has held compliance executives personally accountable.
