ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, Coinbase's Canada Director Lucas Matheson stated that Coinbase is applying for its "restricted dealer registration" in Canada, which is a new guideline requiring trading platforms to register with Canadian authorities.

Canada's regulatory principles allow companies to launch new products and services, and Coinbase intends to introduce perpetual futures contracts and other derivative products in Canada, engaging in open dialogue with regulators such as the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) to update the country's policies to achieve this goal.

Additionally, Coinbase has recently joined the Web3 Council of Canada, a multi-stakeholder non-profit organization aimed at promoting more industry-friendly legislative and regulatory initiatives in Canada.
