ChainCatcher news, two Binance executives were intercepted by Nigerian officials upon entering Nigeria. The Financial Times reported, citing relevant sources, that the two were detained by the Nigerian National Security Advisor's office, and their passports were confiscated. Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the two were invited by Nigeria to meet with officials and were intercepted upon landing, on the grounds that Binance was operating illegally in the country.

Bloomberg reported that the two executives have not yet been charged but may face allegations of currency manipulation, tax evasion, and illegal operations. National Security Advisor spokesperson Zakari Mijinyawa stated, "This is not necessarily an arrest." Meetings and discussions are ongoing. "This is a national security issue, and inter-agency processes are underway."
