SBF: A 50-year sentence is only suitable for "super villains."

ChainCatcher news, according to Bloomberg, FTX founder SBF stated that the U.S. prosecutors' recommendation to imprison him for up to 50 years "distorts reality," portraying him as a "fallen supervillain."

Prosecutors argued that a sentence of 40 to 50 years is warranted for the "historic" crimes involving over a million victims and losses exceeding $10 billion related to FTX co-founder.

The Manhattan federal prosecutor told the judge who will sentence SBF on March 28 that he has exhibited "unparalleled greed and arrogance," and that the illegal actions were based on "malignant megalomania, guided by the defendant's own values and sense of superiority." The government's request is far below the 100 years suggested by U.S. sentencing guidelines, but significantly more than the 6.5 years proposed by SBF's lawyers.

"The hostile memorandum distorts reality to support its precious 'loss' narrative and portrays SBF as a fallen supervillain; it attributes dark and arrogant motives to him, which is completely contrary to the record; it makes apocalyptic predictions about recidivism; and adopts a medieval view of punishment to arrive at a sentencing recommendation equivalent to life imprisonment," SBF's lawyers wrote. "This is not justice."
