The founder of Ordinals released an introduction document for Runes
ChainCatcher news, Bitcoin NFT protocol Ordinals founder Casey Rodarmor released the introduction document for Runes, which allows Bitcoin transactions to engrave, mint, and transfer Bitcoin-native digital goods. While each inscription is unique, each rune unit is the same. They are interchangeable tokens suitable for various purposes.
The rune protocol message is called Runestones, stored in Bitcoin transaction outputs. Runes are created through engraving. Engraving creates a rune and sets its attributes. Once set, these attributes are immutable.
Runestones may form improperly for various reasons, and improperly formed runestones are called "Monuments." Runes input in transactions with "Monuments" will be burned.
"Monuments" are an upgrade mechanism that allows new semantics to be assigned to runestones, changing the way runes are created and transferred, while not misleading un-upgraded clients about the location of these runes, as un-upgraded clients will see that these runes have been burned.
