Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria: The Securities and Exchange Commission is responsible for regulating the cryptocurrency industry, and the central bank will cooperate with relevant agencies

ChainCatcher news, according to Bitcoin.com, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Yemi Cardoso stated in a statement that cryptocurrency regulation is not the responsibility of the central bank. Cardoso made these remarks at a media event and indicated that this role has been assigned to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC).

However, Cardoso added that the central bank will collaborate with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies overseeing the Nigerian cryptocurrency industry.
