Microsoft and OpenAI plan to invest $100 billion to build the Stargate AI supercomputer

ChainCatcher news, according to The Information, Microsoft and OpenAI are planning a data center project costing up to $100 billion. The project is expected to include an artificial intelligence supercomputer named Stargate, scheduled for launch in 2028. Driven by the rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence technology, the market demand for AI data centers capable of handling more advanced tasks than traditional data centers has surged.

It is understood that the budget for this project could be a hundred times the cost of existing largest data centers. This supercomputer will be the largest among a series of supercomputers that the company plans to build over the next six years.
