U.S. prosecutors have filed a lawsuit against three British nationals involved in the 2021 "Evolved Apes" series NFT scam

ChainCatcher news, according to DL News, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York stated in a press release that they have charged three British nationals in connection with a rug pull scam involving a series of 10,000 NFTs called "Evolved Apes" that took place in 2021.

According to the statement, they collected approximately $2.7 million worth of Ethereum from investors. 23-year-old Mohamed-Amin Atcha, Mohamed Rilaz Waleedh, and Daood Hassan are charged with wire fraud and money laundering. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
