Base: The test network is online Fault proofs

ChainCatcher message, Base announced the launch of Fault proofs on the Base testnet, allowing anyone to propose or challenge proposals regarding L2 state in a permissionless manner.

Base stated that Fault proofs are a foundational step towards decentralization. Another important step in achieving the first phase of decentralization for Base is the addition of a Security Council to its contract upgrade keys. Once this step is completed, Base can only upgrade contracts based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council, which only takes actions approved by Optimism Governance.
