Polygon executive: RWA represents a $30 trillion market opportunity globally
ChainCatcher news reports that Colin Butler, Head of Global Institutional Capital at Polygon, stated in an interview that RWA represents a $30 trillion market opportunity globally. High-net-worth individuals and private equity funds will drive the adoption in this space, as tokenization brings liquidity and accessibility to historically illiquid asset classes.
According to data from RWA.xyz, the investment in tokenized private credit instruments has reached approximately $9 billion to date. Butler mentioned that this figure will significantly increase as large private equity funds enter the space, adding that this is already happening and is expected to continue, with hundreds of billions of dollars in tokenized private assets projected to be issued in the coming years.
Excluding stablecoins, the current RWA market size has reached $11.66 billion, with the most popular being tokenized money market funds, such as BlackRock's BUIDL and Franklin's FOBXX. According to RWA.xyz, the two manage approximately $520 million and $420 million, respectively.
