Hang Seng Bank experts expect the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates twice this year, considering it good news for Hong Kong
ChainCatcher message, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell has clearly stated that the timing for interest rate cuts has arrived. Hang Seng Bank Senior Advisor Liang Zhaoji mentioned today in a radio program that there is a high chance of a rate cut in September, estimating a possible reduction of 1/4 percent (25bp). He anticipates that the Federal Reserve will cut rates twice this year, each by 1/4 percent, which could lead to a total reduction of half a percent (50bp) by the end of the year, believing this would be good news for Hong Kong. Liang Zhaoji pointed out that rate cuts would relatively lower the credit costs across various industries, while also boosting market sentiment, hoping to increase business flow.
