Polymarket predicts that Trump is more likely to pardon January 6 protesters than the founder of the "Silk Road."

2024-11-07 20:55:05

ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, based on predictions from Polymarket, the January 6 protesters are more likely to receive a pardon during Trump's second presidential term than Ross William Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road, but the probability gap is not large. Polymarket bettors give the January 6 protesters a probability of 86% for receiving a pardon, while Ulbricht's probability is 78%.

Trump has publicly stated that the January 6 protesters are patriots who have been trapped by a "dual justice system," which is said to unfairly target his supporters, just as he believes he is facing politically motivated charges. He described the events of January 6 as a "loving day," claiming that his supporters were merely responding to a "manipulated" election.

During his campaign, Trump promised that if elected again, he would reduce Ulbricht's sentence to time served (which is different from a pardon) and pardon the defendants from January 6, stating that these actions reflect his opposition to government overreach and support for individual freedom.
