Sonic Labs Co-founder: The meme coin craze does not affect the development of DeFi, as the user groups of the two are different

2025-02-15 09:12:37

ChainCatcher news, Andre Cronje, co-founder of Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom), posted on the X platform stating, "In the past, we would argue over issues like a feature controlled by an external account that does not affect assets, or a contract controlled by multi-signature rather than time-lock. Now, presidents and nations are 'bottom-fishing' us in a completely illegal manner."

When asked if he regrets returning to the crypto space, Cronje responded that this is simply a result of broader adoption, and the meme coin craze does not conflict with his work. "The participants in meme coins are a group that is completely indifferent to DeFi or even blockchain. So meme coins haven't taken away any attention because the participants were never part of our user base."
