EU spokesperson: The EU still hopes to avoid imposing tariffs

White House trade advisor Peter Navarro stated on Monday that if the EU wants to reach an agreement, it needs to lower non-tariff barriers, including those created by value-added tax and food safety regulations. The EU spokesperson said, "The situation has not changed. We want to avoid tariffs… We are waiting for our American counterparts to engage in a meaningful way."
