U.S. CFTC Commissioner Summer Mersinger will step down at the end of May to become the CEO of the Blockchain Association
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, Summer Mersinger, a commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will resign to become the CEO of the Blockchain Association, which is the main lobbying group for the crypto industry in Washington.
The Blockchain Association announced on Wednesday that Summer Mersinger will assume the role of CEO on June 2, with May 30 being her last day at the CFTC.
It is reported that Summer Mersinger was nominated by former President Biden to serve as a Republican commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and was sworn in in March 2022. During her tenure at the CFTC, Summer Mersinger encouraged the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to collaborate in 2023 to jointly build a regulatory framework for digital assets.
