Federal Reserve's Logan: The Federal Reserve should strengthen its interest rate control mechanism
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, Dallas Federal Reserve President Logan stated that the Federal Reserve should consider strengthening mechanisms to more effectively prevent spikes in money market rates when market pressures arise.
In a speech prepared for the 2025 Financial Markets Conference at the Atlanta Federal Reserve, Logan reiterated the call to encourage more banks to use the discount window and to centralize operations of the Standing Repo Facility (SRF).
Logan also pointed out that the Federal Reserve should focus on broader market rates rather than just the federal funds rate. She said, "In my view, interest rate control is not just about keeping the federal funds rate within the target range."
