Trump admits: No chance for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, let them continue fighting
ChainCatcher news, according to Jin Shi reports, Trump stated during a meeting with German Chancellor Merz that both Russia and Ukraine are currently not ready for negotiations, and the mediation has been unsuccessful.
He revealed that Putin plans to launch a large-scale offensive against Ukraine in retaliation for the Ukrainian military's attack on a Russian air force base. Although the Trump administration attempted to promote peace by repairing U.S.-Russia relations and reducing aid to Ukraine, Putin has not shown a willingness to accept Ukraine's conditions. Trump warned that if the conflict continues, both sides may face U.S. sanctions, while also suggesting that even if the fighting persists, cooperation with Moscow on the Iranian nuclear issue should continue. Jeffrey Edmonds, a Defense Department official responsible for Russian affairs during the Biden administration, bluntly stated, "Trump is essentially waving the white flag; now the key is whether he will maintain aid to Ukraine, even if symbolically."
