NBA star Shaquille O'Neal will pay $1.8 million to settle the lawsuit from FTX investors, having previously stated that he was "just a paid spokesperson."
ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has agreed to pay $1.8 million to settle a class action lawsuit from FTX investors. The settlement agreement is pending court approval and will absolve him of all related legal liabilities in the future, prohibiting him from seeking reimbursement from FTX's bankruptcy estate.
The lawsuit alleges that O'Neal promoted FTX as a safe and reliable investment platform through live events and social media, allegedly helping to promote unregistered securities. Unlike other FTX endorsers whose lawsuits have been dismissed, O'Neal remains involved in the case due to the complexities of the legal document delivery process. He stated to CNBC in 2022 that he was "just a paid spokesperson."
