ChainCatcher news, the main opposition party in the Czech Republic called for a vote of no confidence in the government on Thursday, accusing it of corruption in a $45 million Bitcoin payment from a convicted criminal. Alena Schillerova, the vice-chairwoman of the right-wing ANO party, stated in a post on X on Thursday that her party felt it had "no choice" but to submit the no-confidence motion, which is scheduled for a vote on Tuesday.

The Czech Ministry of Justice announced on May 28 that it sold nearly 500 Bitcoins at an auction for 1 billion Czech crowns ($45 million). These Bitcoins were acquired by the ministry from Tomas Jirikovsky, who operated an online black market and was convicted in 2017 for embezzlement, drug trafficking, and violations of weapon regulations.
