ChainCatcher news, according to relevant media reports, U.S. Democratic leader Jeffries spoke in the House for over 8 hours, breaking the record for the longest speech in the House, with the aim of delaying the passage of the "Beautiful Act" bill. Jeffries used his speaking time to read letters from constituents who may be affected by cuts to the Social Security safety net programs, naming those Republicans who are about to support the bill.

This speech is the last resort for Democrats to delay the passage of the bill. Nevertheless, the bill is still expected to pass later on Thursday to meet the Republicans' self-imposed deadline of July 4. Most Republicans were indifferent to the speech. House Speaker Johnson called the speech "a complete waste of everyone's time."
