ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, the Swedish Minister of Justice has requested that the police, tax authorities, and law enforcement agencies strengthen the confiscation of criminal profits, including cryptocurrencies.

The "Confiscation Act" introduced last November allows law enforcement agencies to confiscate property even if they cannot prove that a person has actually committed a crime. This means that if authorities suspect someone has illegally obtained cryptocurrency, and that person "cannot explain its source," the police and other agencies will be able to legally confiscate it.

The Minister of Justice also noted that the new legislation is one of the strictest in Europe and has so far been used to confiscate property worth $8.4 million.
