A SIM swapper who stole $20 million in cryptocurrency has been sentenced to 12 years in prison

ChainCatcher news, according to decrypt, Nicholas Truglia has been re-sentenced to 12 years in prison by a New York judge for failing to pay the $20 million restitution in the 2018 SIM swap theft case.

Previously, Truglia was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2022, but failed to fulfill his restitution obligations. Court records show that Truglia evaded restitution while transferring funds and purchasing luxury goods, and a video in which he boasted about hiding stolen cryptocurrency became key evidence.
