YouLiKa applies for a trademark for the Korean won stablecoin, and credit card companies are actively laying out stablecoin strategies
ChainCatcher news, according to Digital Asset, Woori Card applied to the Korean Intellectual Property Office on July 10, 2025, for multiple trademarks related to stablecoins, including "WCKRW," "WCWON," and "WONWC." This makes it the third credit card company to enter the stablecoin space, following Shinhan Card and KB Kookmin Card.
In this application, Woori Card specified products including downloadable software for stablecoins. The potential applications of stablecoins as a means of payment are being widely discussed, and the credit card industry has shown strong interest in this.
It is worth noting that Woori Bank, a subsidiary of Woori Financial Group, applied for multiple stablecoin trademarks on July 7, indicating the proactive positioning of the five major financial holding companies in the stablecoin market.
