A 22-year-old hacker in Canada sentenced to one year in prison for stealing accounts and defrauding $794,000

ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, a young cybercriminal has been sentenced to prison for stealing NFTs and cryptocurrency by exploiting hijacked social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter).

22-year-old Canadian citizen Cameron Albert Redman was sentenced to one year in prison on Tuesday for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft.

In 2022, Redman and his accomplices exploited the hacked social media accounts of digital artists to post links to counterfeit websites of well-known creators and brands, defrauding over 200 victims in just a few days, with a total amount of $794,000.
