Trump delays the effective date of the reciprocal tariffs by one week to August 7
ChainCatcher news, local time on Thursday night, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs ranging from 15% to 41% on goods exported to the U.S. from 67 trading partners, raising tariff levels to the highest point in over a century.
However, the new tariffs will not take effect until August 7, instead of the previously planned August 1, giving countries another window to try to negotiate lower tariffs. A senior government official said, "This is historic, this is a new trading system, this is what I call the Trump round of negotiations." White House officials stated on Thursday night that they hope to reach more agreements with countries before the new tariff implementation date of August 7. (Jin Ten)
