ChainCatcher news, a Manhattan jury found Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm guilty of conspiring to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business, but did not reach a consensus on the charges of money laundering and sanctions violations.

Crypto organizations such as the DeFi Education Fund and the Blockchain Association expressed disappointment with the ruling, stating that it sets a dangerous precedent for open-source software developers and called for Storm to appeal. CahillNXT partner Samson Enzer stated that the ruling shows the government failed to adequately prove that Storm knowingly assisted criminals in money laundering. Storm himself stated that he will continue to fight the related charges. (The Block)
