Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine: Supports the legalization of cryptocurrency but opposes its use as a means of payment
ChainCatcher news, according to Cryptonews, Andriy Pyshnyy, the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), stated that he supports the legalization of cryptocurrency but does not support its use as a means of payment. He emphasized that the legalization of cryptocurrency should not undermine the effectiveness of the central bank's monetary policy tools.
At the same time, Pyshnyy revealed that the NBU is testing a model framework for digital currency (CBDC) and is preparing for a pilot project. Considering Ukraine's European integration process, the NBU is particularly focused on the development of the digital euro project and has already collaborated with the European Central Bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the National Bank of Belgium, the Bank of France, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
