Barclays: New Fed Governor Miland may be a dark horse candidate for Fed Chair

ChainCatcher news, Barclays Bank Senior Research Analyst for Public Policy Michael McLean pointed out that Trump's nomination of Stephen Moore to replace Quarles could be a dark horse candidate for the next Federal Reserve Chairman. If confirmed by the Senate, Moore could potentially serve indefinitely after his term expires. Trump could have left Quarles' seat vacant, but he chose to quickly nominate Moore, which clearly paves the way for him. Moore is deeply trusted by Trump and has consistently supported the president and his policies.

In addition, several former Federal Reserve Chairmen, including Greenspan, Bernanke, and Yellen, have served as Chairmen of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Moreover, compared to other candidates, Moore will have the advantages of having a voice in monetary policy and voting rights on the FOMC. (Jin Shi)
