Provisions against central bank digital currencies included in the must-pass defense bill in the U.S. House of Representatives
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, a provision against central bank digital currencies (CBDC) has been included in a defense appropriations legislation that is considered "must-pass." This provision has been added to the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the House of Representatives.
The newly established chapter in the bill is titled "Anti-CBDC Surveillance National Act," and its content is consistent with the bill previously proposed separately by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Earlier this summer, the House passed Emmer's bill with a vote of 219 to 210, which aims to prohibit the Federal Reserve from directly issuing central bank digital currency to individuals.
