Viewpoint: Powell may discuss the trend of unemployment claims, reflecting the dynamics of the labor market

2025-08-22 21:56:42

ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, DataTrek Research co-founder Nicholas Colas expects that Powell will discuss the trend of initial jobless claims remaining low while continuing claims are steadily rising.

This pattern indicates that U.S. employers are in a state of "not laying off old employees, not hiring new employees," reflecting a stable U.S. labor market, but also making the market susceptible to minor shocks, potentially increasing the risk of layoffs.
