U.S. Secretary of Commerce: Will begin publishing economic statistics on the blockchain
ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick stated during a White House cabinet meeting on Tuesday that the Department of Commerce will begin publishing economic statistics, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data, on the blockchain. This may expand to all federal departments once the Department of Commerce finalizes "all the details."
Previously, on August 1, Trump fired the head of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Erika McEntarfer, because the July employment report showed only 73,000 new jobs, significantly revised down from previous months. Trump accused her of releasing "manipulated" data, raising concerns among economists.
