Coinbase's new hiring policy sparks legal controversy
ChainCatcher news, Coinbase recently announced that it will limit sensitive system positions to U.S. citizens only and require new employees to undergo on-site onboarding training, raising questions about whether this violates U.S. anti-discrimination laws.
The policy aims to address the threat of North Korean hackers applying for remote positions through identity fraud for internal infiltration. A Coinbase spokesperson clarified that this is not a company-wide "U.S. citizens only" policy, but rather a security measure for specific sensitive positions, including identity verification, fingerprinting, and enhanced onboarding processes.
