ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, Brian Quintenz, the nominee for chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) nominated by Trump, publicly released screenshots of private messages with Gemini exchange founders the Winklevoss twins on social media on Wednesday, making the dispute between the two parties public.

Quintenz stated that the Winklevoss twins attempted to obstruct his nomination because he refused to commit to meeting their demands regarding CFTC reforms. According to the released conversations, the Winklevoss twins expressed dissatisfaction with the CFTC's previous investigation and litigation handling of Gemini, and hinted at contacting President Trump directly to discuss the matter. Shortly after these conversations took place, the White House requested the Senate to withdraw the vote on Quintenz's nomination. Quintenz is currently the global policy head at venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz and previously served as a CFTC commissioner during Trump's first term. Several cryptocurrency lobbying groups have urged the president to continue supporting Quintenz's nomination.
