Latin American cryptocurrency exchange Ripio launches Argentine peso stablecoin wARS

Latin American cryptocurrency exchange Ripio, with over 25,000,000 users, has announced the launch of a stablecoin pegged to the Argentine peso, wARS. The token is now live on Ethereum, Coinbase's Base, and World Chain. wARS enables users to send and receive funds globally without the need for banks or converting to dollars.

Ripio stated that it plans to launch similar stablecoins for other Latin American currencies in the future to facilitate cross-border payments in local currencies within the region. This release is another step by Ripio in the realm of real-world assets (RWA) following the launch of tokenized sovereign bonds.
