Aerodrome announced the launch of a new protocol and its token in Q2 of next year
According to DL News, Aerodrome developer Dromos Labs will launch a new protocol, Aero, and its token in the second quarter of 2026, aiming to replace Uniswap as the dominant player in the Ethereum ecosystem.
The new protocol Aero will simplify the cross-chain token exchange process and enable traders to perform cross-chain transactions with just one click through built-in bridging technology. Aero will also enhance incentives to attract traders and liquidity providers by providing additional revenue sources such as MEV and distributing them to Aero token holders, allowing Aero to offer better prices to crypto traders than its competitors.
Previously, Dromos Labs CEO Alexander Cutler stated on X that the recently proposed fee switch reform by Uniswap is a huge mistake made by our biggest competitor.
Aerodrome is the largest DEX on Base, while its sister protocol Velodrome is the largest DEX on Optimism. This is the development team's first expansion to the Ethereum mainnet, directly competing with the long-dominant Uniswap.
