Federal Reserve officials have differing views on a rate cut in December, with at least three dissenting votes
According to Jinshi News, "the Fed's mouthpiece" Nick Timiraos pointed out that Federal Reserve officials are facing the challenge of differing opinions on interest rates. There are two factions within the Fed: one is concerned about inflation issues, with an increasing number of members, including four voting regional Fed presidents and Fed Governor Barr; the other faction is worried about the labor market, believing that the risks of high inflation are being overstated. Nick stated that at the December meeting, there may be at least three dissenting opinions, and the three officials appointed by Trump will oppose keeping interest rates unchanged. If a 25 basis point cut is proposed, the opposing votes will also reach at least three.
