Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong posted on social media, stating that the New York Times is now more like a "political propaganda machine," replacing news reporting with emotional content, and claimed that "real journalism could have significant value." He mentioned that no one around him considers it a serious media outlet "except for a few people over 60 on the East Coast." Armstrong also believes that the culture of the Dealbook team under NYT is different. He urged the public to "give a gift this holiday season to friends and family—cancel their New York Times subscription."
