UN report: The management of artificial intelligence may exacerbate inequalities between countries

2025-12-03 11:06:49
Collection

According to a report by the Securities Times, a report on artificial intelligence released on the 2nd by the United Nations Development Programme's Asia and the Pacific Regional Bureau states that due to the differing development foundations of various countries, a lack of effective management of artificial intelligence could widen the gap between nations and further exacerbate inequalities between countries.

The report states that while artificial intelligence opens up new pathways for development, the vastly different starting conditions of countries lead to entirely different situations in seizing opportunities and managing risks. Without strong policy interventions, these gaps may continue to widen, potentially reversing the long-standing trend of gradually narrowing development disparities.
