On December 8, local time, U.S. President Trump stated that the U.S. government would allow Nvidia to sell its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China, but a 25% fee would be imposed on each chip. The H200 is considered Nvidia's "second strongest" AI chip in terms of performance. Trump mentioned that the U.S. Department of Commerce is finalizing the relevant details, and the same arrangements will apply to AI chip exports from companies like AMD and Intel.

Following the announcement, Nvidia's stock price rose 1.2% in after-hours trading. Reuters pointed out that this decision indicates a shift in the Trump administration's policy on AI chips to China, as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had been lobbying the U.S. government for months to ease export restrictions.

The report cited Huang's view that the Chinese market is crucial for the competitiveness of the U.S. AI industry, and stable U.S.-China trade helps avoid double damage to both sides' industrial chains. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously stated that the U.S. should take practical actions to maintain the stability of the global supply chain.
