Barclays: The Fed's wait-and-see stance may be hard to change, focusing on payroll data revisions

According to Jin Shi reports, Barclays' Chief Market Strategist Julien Lafargue stated that the revisions to the U.S. payroll data from previous months will be closely watched tonight, as they may reveal the impact of the U.S. government shutdown. Barclays is skeptical that this data will significantly alter market expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged in the first quarter. He pointed out that the employment report is just one piece of the puzzle, with other factors including inflation and the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on reciprocal tariffs.
